πŸ₯ž Besan Chilla (Savory Gram Flour Pancake)

A quick, protein-rich Indian breakfast/snack made with besan (gram flour). Perfect for busy mornings and great for weight management.


πŸ›’ Ingredients (Serves 2–3)

  • 1 cup besan (gram flour)
  • Β½ tsp ajwain (carom seeds)
  • Β½ tsp cumin seeds
  • ΒΌ tsp turmeric
  • Β½ tsp red chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Water (to make smooth batter)

Vegetables (finely chopped):

  • ΒΌ cup onion
  • ΒΌ cup tomato (remove seeds)
  • ΒΌ cup capsicum
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves
  • Optional: grated carrot, spinach, paneer

Oil or ghee for cooking

  1. Make batter
    In a bowl, mix besan, salt, turmeric, chilli powder, ajwain, cumin.
    Add water gradually and whisk to make a smooth, lump-free batter (medium consistency).
  2. Add vegetables
    Mix in chopped vegetables and coriander.
  3. Cook chilla
    • Heat a non-stick pan.
    • Pour a ladle of batter and spread gently in circular motion.
    • Drizzle a few drops of oil around edges.
    • Cook on medium flame until golden brown.
    • Flip and cook other side.
  4. Serve hot.

  1. Mint chutney
  2. coconut chutney
  3. tomato onion chutyne
